Meet Stuart.

Stuart is an accomplished nonprofit executive with nearly 30 years of leadership in community development, organizational growth, and strategic planning, including 15 years as CEO. Most recently, he served as CEO for a major nonprofit in Central North Carolina Region, where he led operations across a seven-county region, managing a diverse team and over 2,000 volunteers. Under his leadership, the they navigated the challenges of COVID-19 and national bankruptcy while achieving a 125% increase in grant funding, 3%+ growth in membership, and record camp attendance.

Stuart brings over three decades of proven executive leadership across nonprofit management, organizational development, and strategic growth. Stuart’s expertise extends across C-suite leadership, board engagement, strategic planning, time management, and remote operations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Marine Science, and Chemistry from Jacksonville University and carries extensive professional training in Transformational and Ethical Leadership, suicide prevention, and advanced Scouting America executive programs. An Eagle Scout, ordained elder, and dedicated community leader, he has contributed through board service, youth career mentoring, national jamboree leadership, and faith-based outreach. With a passion for developing people and strengthening organizations, Stuart brings the business acumen, integrity, and adaptability to elevate teams and guide nonprofits and corporate leaders alike.

 

He served ten years as CEO of the Shenandoah Area Council, where he led the organization into full compliance, expanded its visibility, strengthened its technological infrastructure, and built a thriving network of community partnerships. Under his direction, the council grew its operating budget to over $2.1 million, secured more than $700,000 in capital funding, and increased direct financial support by 70%. Before this, Stuart held progressive leadership roles within the Cherokee Area Council and Gulf Ridge Council, consistently exceeding financial, membership, and programmatic goals while overseeing multiple properties, major capital projects, and large-scale events. His leadership produced measurable results, including negotiating over $150,000 in capital improvements, driving 105% camp attendance growth, and restoring membership after significant decline.
